2021 SAG Awards: Nicola Coughlan goes goth glam and leads the Bridgerton cast at the ceremony

Bridgerton star Nicola Coughlan went full-on goth glam for the 27th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, which aired Sunday on TNT/TBS.

The Irish 34-year-old – who plays reluctant debutante Penelope Featherington in the Netflix hit – donned a custom Christian Siriano Victorian gown featuring a caped top and lacy sleeves.

Nicola accessorized her ‘Goth Barbie’ dress with Jimmy Choo heels and De Beers jewelry selected by stylist Aimée Croysdill.

Earlier, the Derry Girls actress flaunted substantial cleavage in a Miu Miu mini-dress featuring another ruffled skirt.

Nicola – who boasts 1.4M social media followers – gushed: ‘Words cannot describe how excited I am to be a @sagawards nominee alongside my @bridgertonnetflix family it’s truly a dream come true!’

However, Coughlan and her 27 castmates lost the outstanding performance by an ensemble in a drama series trophy to Netflix’s The Crown.

And exiting Bridgerton star Regé-Jean Page lost the outstanding performance by a male actor in a drama series trophy to Ozark’s Jason Bateman.

The 31-year-old Englishman – who played Duke of Hastings Simon Bassett – looked sharp in a black Louis Vuitton tuxedo and an EF Collection earring.

Last Friday, Regé-Jean shocked his fans when he announced he was leaving the critically-acclaimed Shondaland show, calling it ‘the ride of a lifetime.’

Nicola responded by tweeting Friday: ‘Season One was just the tip of the Bridgerton iceberg, just you wait to see what we have in store… And you can trust me, I would know after all.’

The Gossip Girl-style period drama has already cast Simone Ashley, Rupert Young, and Charithra Chandran for season two based on Julia Quinn’s The Viscount Who Loved Me.

And there’s definitely interest as an estimated 82M households have streamed Bridgerton since it premiered on Christmas Day.
