With movie theaters closed across the country for the indefinite future, a trio of high-profile sequels have been pushed to later release dates.
Paramount Pictures has pushed A Quiet Place II and Top Gun: Maverick from their 2020 dates into 2021, due to COVID-19, according to Variety.
Sony Pictures has also pushed their highly-anticipated sequel to last year’s Spider-Man: Far From Home further into 2021.

A Quiet Place II was originally slated to hit theaters on March 20, before it was pushed to September 4, though it will now be released on April 23, 2021.
As of now, there are already a number of movies slated for wide release on that date, Monster Hunter starring Milla Jovovich, The Asset starring Samuel L. Jackson, Last Night in Soho starring Anya Taylor-Joy and the animated film Ron’s Gone Wrong.
A Quiet Place II brings back Emily Blunt as Evelyn Abbott, who tries to protect her children from creatures who hunt humans by sound.

Paramount’s Top Gun: Maverick was originally set to be released on June 26, but in April he was pushed to December 23 due to COVID-19.
Now the studio has pushed it again, to July 2, 2021, a date where Universal’s Minions: The Rise of Gru and Paramount’s Jackass is currently slated, though the latter may move.

‘We truly believe that there is no movie-viewing experience like the one enjoyed in theatres,’ Paramount’s Chris Aronson and Mark Viane said in a joint statement.
‘We are committed to the theatrical experience and our exhibition partners, and want to stress that we are confident that, when the time comes, audiences everywhere will once again enjoy the singular joy of seeing Paramount films on the big screen,’ the statement concluded.
Paramount also moved Sonic the Hedgehog 2 to April 8, 2022, Jackass from July 2021 to September 3, 2021, Under the Boardwalk to July 22, 2022 and The Tiger’s Apprentice from February 11, 2022 to February 10, 2023.
