Abbey Clancy showcases her bouncy new blow dry after a trip to the hair salon

She’s been unable to get to the salon during lockdown just like the rest of us.

But Abbey Clancy was clearly over the moon that she can now head back to the hairdressers as she showed off her new do on Wednesday.

The model, 35, looked stunning in a series of mirror selfies taken after her visit as she displayed her sleek locks and bouncy new blow dry.

It comes after last month Abbey recalled the ‘terrifying’ moment she discovered clumps of her hair falling out during pregnancy as she confirmed it ‘damaged’ her confidence.

The star who shares Sophia, nine, Liberty, five, Johnny, three and Jack, 22 months, with her husband Peter Crouch, also revealed her multiple pregnancies took a toll on her body and her skin became allergic to most products.

Speaking about her experience, she said to OK! Magazine: ‘I was so ill during pregnancy, and my skin was so reactive. It was allergic to everything, even fabrics and washing powder. I also had a lot of hair loss.

‘It grows back, but when clumps of hair fall out when you’re washing it, it’s terrifying.

‘I had three kids in four years, so I felt like I had no hair left by the end! It’s another thing that was damaging to my confidence. It’s scary for any woman going through that.’

According to Abbey, she also suffers from pigmentation which can cause discoloured patches of skin on the body and face, as she revealed it first appeared when she became pregnant with her first daughter, Sophia.

She said she had to wear make-up to ‘cover it up’ and she still proactively looks for products to help combat the skin disorder.

‘Hair loss and thinning is one of the most common complaints of women following pregnancy, with most women experience some sort of hair loss after giving birth,’ Jane Mayhead, senior trichology consultant at The Private Clinic of Harley Street told MailOnline in 2019.

‘It is the fluctuating hormone levels during pregnancy and following child birth that are the primary cause of [hair] thinning for new mothers.’

Pregnancy and breastfeeding cause a surge in oestrogen, which keeps hair in the growing phase, making it look lustrous and thick.

However when hormone levels continue to change or return to normal, it sends the hair into the shedding phase resulting in hair loss, also known as telogen effluvium.
