Ariana Grande reveals new album to be called Positions and will be out in two weeks… with lead single of same name out NEXT FRIDAY

Ariana Grande’s upcoming album and its lead single will both be called Positions.

A countdown clock on her website indicates that the single will drop next Friday and the full record will be released the Friday after that.

The 27-year-old hinted at the title with a cryptic Instagram video this Saturday that showed her typing out the word ‘positions’ on a keyboard.

Looking fab: Ariana Grande’s upcoming album and its lead single will both be called Positions; she is pictured playing the Coachella Music Festival last year

Her next studio album will be her sixth overall,  and the third she has dropped just in the space of the last two and a half years.

Ariana’s fourth studio album Sweetener came out two years and two months ago in August 18, and in a blaze of activity she recorded Thank U, Next that October.

Thank U, Next was Ariana’s acclaimed smash hit breakup album, released in the wake of her broken engagement to Saturday Night Live star Pete Davidson.

While she was engaged Ariana was devastated by the death of her ex-boyfriend Mac Miller of an accidental overdose at the age of just 26.

Thank U, Next was a roaring success and made Ariana the first act since The Beatles to sweep the Billboard Hot 100 top three all at once.

She has released precious little information about the follow-up but did tweet this Wednesday: ‘i can’t wait to give u my album this month.’

Ariana has continued making music amid the pandemic including the lockdown-themed duet single Stuck With U with Justin Bieber which she dropped in May.

While promoting the single to Zane Lowe of Apple Music she said that she was not planning to release a new album but has evidently changed her mind.

That same month she performed on another duet single called Rain On Me, this one for Lady Gaga’s new album Chromatica.

The smoldering sensation has recording equipment set up at her home enabling her to continue working while in self-isolation.

Last year Ariana sang with the legendary Queen Of Funk Chaka Khan on the song Nobody for Elizabeth Banks’ flop Charlie’s Angels movie.

During a recent interview on VladTV Luenell asked about the potential of working with Ariana again and Chaka flatly said she was not interested.

‘Nah, f*** her,’ said Chaka, laughing and shaking her head before adding: ‘No, she’s all right. She’s good on her own.’

Chaka explained that ‘I don’t wanna sing with another woman. I ain’t got nothing to say, okay, with a woman. You say it by yourself. Say what you – and we ain’t gonna talk about no man. We’re not gonna do none of that stuff. It’s not happening, okay?’

Luenell gleefully called her a ‘boss b***’ after her answer and Chaka vamped: ‘I’m not gonna do no song with no heifer.’

However in the same interview she said: ‘She’s a great singer. She’s her own planet too. Her own planet, and you know, she’s great. I get her. I got her. I love her. Bam.’
