Former Bachelor Matty ‘J’ Johnson gets mixed reviews from viewers for debut performance on Dancing With The Stars – with some unsure who he is

Matty ‘J’ Johnson made his debut on Dancing With The Stars Australia on Sunday night.

The former Bachelor star joined his professional dance partner Ruby Gherbaz performing a spirited routine to Walk The Moon’s track Shut Up And Dance.

The 33-year-old donned a glittering jacket and looked competent if a tad laboured as he moved around the dance floor.

A very harsh fan watching at home wrote: ‘Matty J is a disgrace to Australians nationwide.’

Others had a ball watching him, with one Tweeting: ‘Wow he actually did pretty well considering it’s his first dance, I was expecting he would be horrendous’.

Someone else added: ‘Matty J probably won’t win with his dancing, but hopefully his charm and personality will compensate.’

One said they were ‘only watching for Matty J’ while another wrote: ‘Wow – I forgot how attractive Matty J is’.

One person who was very impressed was Matty’s fiancée Laura Byrne, 33, who was watching from the audience.

She looked absolutely delighted and clasped her hands, silently begging for a good score for her man.

The couple, who met on The Bachelor Australia in 2017, welcomed their second child, Lola Ellis, in February.

They are also parents to one-year-old daughter Marlie Mae.
