Bachelor’s Keira Maguire says editing is to blame for the franchise’s decline

‘You’re signing your life away’: The Bachelor’s Keira Maguire says editing is to blame for the franchise’s decline in popularity… and urges future stars to be aware of the fine print

This year’s finale of The Bachelorette pulled in the lowest ratings in the history of the franchise, with just 573,000 metro viewers tuning in for the final decision.

And with the cancellation of spin-off Bachelor in Paradise next year, former Bachelor star Keira Maguire has claimed that editing is to blame for the franchise’s decline.

In an interview with The Daily Telegraph’s Confidential on Sunday, the 34-year-old, who has also starred on two seasons of Paradise, said producers have ‘gone too far’.

‘I feel like they have taken it too far when it comes to editing and ‘frankenbiting’ people’s voices and actually putting words in people’s mouths,’ Keira told the paper.

Frankenbiting is where reality TV producers create their own storyline by taking words someone has said from various, unrelated segments, and combining them.

Keira also urged future contestants to read the contract’s fine print carefully.

‘If they want the show to go a certain way, they fully narrate the way they want it to be. It’s really hectic, that’s the level Australia is getting to. You’re basically signing your life away,’ she claimed.

Daily Mail Australia has reached out to Channel Ten for comment.

Despite failing to find long-lasting love on the franchise, Keira is now happily dating former Love Island Australia star Matt Zukowski, 25.

The couple confirmed their romance via Instagram in August, but had been seeing each other months prior.

Keira told Fox FM’s Fifi, Fev and Byron radio show in August: ‘We’d been seeing each other since February, but [we were] not official. We were just obviously hanging out, nothing serious.’

The blonde bombshell went on to reveal how they both realised they really liked each other and decided to pursue a relationship.

‘I’m obsessed with him,’ she told the radio hosts.
