Best discounts for key workers this Christmas

With Christmas around the corner and the end of a difficult year for many in sight, there is still some potential small cheer to be had for emergency workers in the form of discounts at retailers.

Earlier this year, a large number of retailers put on special discounts for NHS staff members to make their lives that little bit easier.

This has continued into the Christmas period with a number of exclusive savings available for emergency workers this festive season both through the Blue Light Card scheme and simply by showing your NHS work badge.

There are many discounts available to NHS workers this Christmas after a very difficult year

The Blue Light Card is the UK’s largest discount service for the NHS, emergency services and social care workers.

It has partnered with over 15,000 retailers to offer discounts for its members on clothing, footwear, food and drink, electronics and more.

Tom Dalby, chief executive of Blue Light Card, said: ‘Christmas may look a little different this year but that doesn’t mean we can’t still treat friends and loved ones to something special.

Blue Light Card

The Blue Light Card costs £4.99 for two years membership.

Those who can apply are NHS employees, and those who work for the ambulance, fire service or police.

Also included are HM Coastguard and RNLI workers, alongside anyone in the Armed Forces.

‘With Christmas just round the corner and only a few weeks away, there has never been a better time to ensure those Christmas lists are sorted without having to battle any last-minute scrambles for next day delivery slots.

‘We are always blown away by the efforts of our Blue Light community, but this year has been particularly difficult for many.

‘Hundreds of thousands of NHS and emergency services teams have tirelessly and selflessly put themselves on the frontline to battle Covid-19 and keep our communities safe.

‘We hope these deals help to say thank you in at least some small way for all the hard work they continue to do to keep the nation safe.’
