Bewitched getting YET ANOTHER film adaptation

Bewitched is getting ANOTHER adaptation… after it was first a TV series starring Elizabeth Montgomery then a film with Nicole Kidman and Will Ferrell

Bewitched is getting another live-action movie less than two decades after the Razzie-winning 2005 film starring Nicole Kidman and Will Ferrell.

The original series ran from 1964 to 1972 with Elizabeth Montgomery and won the hearts of fans with its story of a witch trying to conceal her powers to be a regular housewife to a normal man.

Now an upcoming movie reboot is in the works at Sony, which was also behind the 2005 version, according to Deadline.

On the original series Montgomery played a kindhearted witch named Samantha who falls in love with and marries an ordinary man called Darrin.

Darrin wants to live a normal, unmagical life and Samantha makes an honest attempt at hiding her powers from the outside world.

However her family of witches and warlocks are constantly meddling in her affairs including her mother Endora played by Citizen Kane actress Agnes Moorehead.

Paul Lynde also had a memorable role as Samantha’s Uncle Arthur who is Endora’s brother and has a fondness for pranks.

Dick York played Darrin for the first few seasons but he left in 1969 to deal with health problems related to a back injury and was replaced by Dick Sargent.

Sol Saks created the original series and the upcoming movie at Sony will be written by Terry Matalas and Travis Fickett – the team who created 12 Monkeys.

Bewitched has spawned an endless array of adaptations including comic books and a short-lived 1970s sitcom called Tabitha about Samantha and Darrin’s daughter.
