Big Brother Australia is coming! Channel Seven announces premiere date for twisted new season – and fans won’t have long to wait


The premiere date for the new season of Big Brother Australia has been announced.

The Channel Seven reality show, which is hosted by Sonia Kruger, will return to screens on Monday, April 26.

The latest series will include more rooms, more secrets, more twists and more thrills to keep Australia guessing.

Endemol Shine Australia content boss Peter Newman promised a season filled with surprises for viewers and contestants. 

‘We’re extremely proud that Seven has commissioned us to deliver another series of the reality show that started it all, Big Brother. We’re also very grateful to the fans of the show who have embraced the evolution of this incredible format,’ he said.

‘In 2021 Big Brother will be back more mischievous and devious than ever before. You won’t believe what he’s got planned for the Big Brother house.’

A first-look trailer unveiled last month offered a glimpse inside the the house, which contains some dark and twisted secrets within its walls. 

The teaser hinted at unpleasant surprises for the contestants ‘around every corner’.

‘New house. Hidden rooms. Big twists. There are secrets lurking around every corner in the Big Brother house,’ a voice-over says. 

The minute-long clip shows flickering lights and fog creeping across several vacant rooms while host Sonia Kruger urges the housemates to be on the lookout.

‘Whenever you open a door, you might want to be ready for it. Whenever you sit down, you might want to check first,’ she says.

‘What’s under your bed? What’s behind the wall? And what can be lurking above?’

Contestants are then shown examining the lounges and running through darkened hallways, and one even exclaims: ‘What the hell?!’

Another housemate crawls through a secret passageway, before the camera cuts to two others in a dark bunker-style room.

The participants then move through creepy hallways, and scary clowns even make an appearance by randomly showing up in the Diary Room. 

Fans compared the trailer to a horror film, with many likening it to the Saw franchise.

‘Getting some serious “I want to play a game” vibes here,’ one viewer commented on Instagram.
