A nine-year-old boy has died and two people have been arrested after a ‘serious incident’ at a house in Worcestershire. 

Police were called to the address in Copcut, Droitwich on Thursday afternoon, as the child was taken to hospital in a critical condition.

Officers have now confirmed that the boy has died from his injuries.

His next of kin has been informed, however, formal identification has not yet taken place.

Forensics officers were seen combing for clues in an upstairs bedroom and locals were told to avoid the area. 

One resident on the new-build estate, who asked not to be named, said: ‘I came back from the shops and there were police, ambulances and two helicopters on the grass.

‘My neighbour said it was a little boy they took away. I hope he’s okay, it looked bad.’

Another local claimed on Facebook that police had been searching for ‘a man in a grey tracksuit’.

DI Ed Slough from West Mercia Police, said: ‘This is a tragic incident that has seen a young boy lose his life and our thoughts are with his family at this awful time. 

‘We are currently treating the boy’s death as unexplained and are carrying out enquiries to establish the circumstances.’
