Bridgerton star Regé-Jean Page enjoyed a night out in New York on Tuesday evening as he prepares for his eagerly anticipated hosting role on Saturday Night Live.

The actor, 31, has become a household name thanks to his starring role as eligible bachelor Simon Basset, Duke of Hastings, in the hugely popular Netflix romp.

And he was centre of attention while out with his SNL colleagues as they attended a routine dinner on Midtown’s 46th street.

Accompanied by SNL producer Lindsay Shookus, Page was seen emerging from a local diner with his increasingly familiar features hidden behind a protective face covering.

The actor looked typically stylish, opting for a smart houndstooth coat over a blue T-shirt and knitted grey cardigan.

He added to his look with a pair of black skinny jeans, while leather shoes rounded things off.

The actor is currently nominated for a SAG Award and a NAACP Image Award while he has also been speculated as a future James Bond.

He made his first TV appearance in 2004, but has only in recent years hit the big time – first in the US mini-series Roots, then in the American legal drama For The People.

It comes after Bridgerton was officially renewed by Netflix for series 2 after weeks of speculation.

The second season will focus on Anthony Bridgerton’s (Jonathan Bailey) quest to find a wife after his turbulent love life was played out in the first series.

Bridgerton follows the self-titled family and how their lives are turned upside-down by the revelations of the illusive and anonymous Lady Whistledown in London.

Netflix confirmed the news in a tongue-in-cheek statement penned as mysterious show lead Lady Whistledown.

They also shared the news on Twitter and YouTube with a montage of best clips from series one.

A statement read: ‘The ton are abuzz with the latest gossip, and so it is my honour to impart to you: Bridgerton shall officially return for a second season. I do hope you have stored a bottle of ratafia for this most delightful occasion.

‘This author has been reliably informed that Lord Anthony Bridgerton intends to dominate the social season. I will have my pen to report on any and all of his romantic activities.

‘However, gentle reader, before you set the comments section alight with requests for more sordid details, know that I am disinclined to report on the particulars at this time. Patience, after all, is a virtue. Yours Truly, Lady Whistledown.’
