A British couple who broke Barbados Covid rules by sneaking a woman into their luxury hotel room in the early hours while they were awaiting test results have been fined and threatened with jail.

Andrew Luker and Julia Knightley follow a number of Britons, including Love Island star Zara Holland, to have fallen foul of the Caribbean island’s strict pandemic laws. 

The couple from Greater Manchester were caught when Jamaican woman Mikaela Jacas was seen scaling a wall at Treasure Beach hotel in St James.

Police were called and the trio were rounded up as they were enjoying a late-night drink on the patio of their luxury accommodation.

Qualified nurse Knightley, 41, and crane engineer Luker both pleaded guilty on Thursday and blamed ‘ignorance’ for inviting the woman to their room while they were awaiting the results of their Covid tests.

They were each fined £2,200 and freed on £7,000 bail, but were warned they would be jailed for nine months if they didn’t pay within seven days. 

Knightley, a mother-of-four, has previously made headlines for using provocative images of herself to promote her cosmetic clinic.

She apologized after being accused of being unprofessional for wearing the racy underwear in the provocative adverts for her non-surgical cosmetic clinic in her town. 

A picture of a woman in black lingerie sitting on a throne surrounded by whips and paddles is still on the Facebook page for the beauty salon she runs in her home town of Cheadle Hulme.

On Wednesday she and Luker appeared before the same magistrate who dealt with Love Island’s Zara for a similar breach of Covid regulations. 

She was arrested last month trying to flee the island after her boyfriend Elliott Love tested positive for the deadly disease. 

Ms Knightley said ignorance of the law was no excuse for their actions. She admitting to knowing they could not leave the hotel while awaiting test results – but claimed she didn’t know they couldn’t invite guests to their room. 

The couple arrived on the island on December 28 and are scheduled to leave on January 9

He said if they had been infected with Covid their actions could have led to it being spread among the local community. 

The couple arrived on the island on December 28 and are scheduled to leave on January 9.
