BREAKING NEWS: Britney Spears’ court-appointed attorney resigns after failing to file paperwork to end conservatorship

Britney Spears’ court-appointed attorney Sam Ingham will resign on Tuesday after after failing to file the paperwork required to end the conservatorship held over her by her father.

Ingham had been appointed to represent Britney in the ongoing legal saga against her father, Jamie, who has held control of her finances and medical decisions since 2008.

TMZ reports that he is stepping down and will file paperwork later today.

She has been fighting to free herself from the complex legal framework for years but has been left dumbfounded by Ingham’s lack of action.

Britney Spears’ court-appointed attorney Sam Ingham has resigned after failing to file the paperwork required to end the conservatorship held over her by her father.

Page Six on Tuesday cited a source to the star who said she was shocked Ingham still hadn’t filed the paperwork 13 days after she told a judge how the conservatorship was ruining her life.

‘Britney doesn’t understand what the holdup is. She feels she made it crystal clear in court that she wants the conservatorship terminated, but nearly two weeks later, she’s still waiting for the petition to be filed,’ the unnamed source said.

In order for a judge to rid Britney of the conservatorship, a request for it to be terminated must be filed.

Ingham never filed such a request and for weeks, he has ignored questions from the world’s media and Britney’s fans as to why.

It’s now unclear who will represent the star.

On Tuesday, Britney’s long-time manager also resigned, saying he no longer needed to be kept on the payroll because she wants to retire.

He wrote a letter to the court to say while he hadn’t spoken to her for two years, he’d learned that she had been expressing a desire to other people to stop working.

‘Earlier today, I became aware that Britney had been voicing her intention to officially retire.

‘I was originally hired at Britney’s request to help manage and assist her with her career.

‘And as her manager, I believe it is in Britney’s best interest for me to resign from her team as my professional services are no longer needed.

‘I will always be incredibly proud of what we accomplished over our 25 years together.

‘I wish Britney all the health and happiness in the world, and I’ll be there for her if she ever needs me again, just as I always have been,’ he said.
