Bryce Ruthven called out on Today show for using MAFS for publicity

David Campbell slams Bryce Ruthven in tense interview after the Married At First Sight star admits that he used the show for publicity – as Melissa Ruthven frantically claims the couple DON’T want fame or influencer careers

Married At First Sight villain Bryce Ruthven was awkwardly called out by Today Extra host David Campbell during a tense interview on Thursday.

The drama started when the radio presenter, who was being interviewed alongside his TV wife Melissa Rawson, accidentally admitted that he was enjoying the publicity that came from the show.

‘It’s disappointing that gossip pages just want to gossip about our relationship, but hey, it’s kind of nice at the same time too because all they’re doing is building our profiles for when we finish the show, so thanks guy,’ Bryce said.

Melissa immediately shook her head in disbelief at Bryce’s bold statement, before Today Extra hosts David and Belinda Russell jumped in.

‘Is that why you’re in this though, it’s all for publicity?’ said a shocked Belinda.

‘That’s a problem!’ barked David. ‘That little statement at the end.’

A flustered Bryce responded: ‘Well that’s the thing, if they’re gonna keep doing it, they’re just helping us [with] whatever we wanna do in the future.’

Clearly frustrated and suspicious, David Bryce off before questioning Melissa about her intentions for going on the show.

‘Are you in this for publicity?’ David asked the blonde. ‘Are you here for infamy and fame?’

The workplace trainer insisted that she wasn’t after a career as an influencer, before Bryce said that he had only been joking with his publicity comments.

‘I’m still working full time and at the end of this, I never anticipated coming on and looking at that type of life because I came on and I got what I wanted with Bryce,’ she said.

‘It’s like they think that we are gonna become these influencers,’ she continued.

‘They think that we’re gonna be the next Cam and Jules or Martha and Michael, and that’s just not the case, it’s not who we are.’

Melissa currently has close to 70,000 Instagram followers, while radio presenter Bryce has around 52,000.

During their time on the show, it was claimed that Bryce was only using the platform to further his media career.

However, he has strongly denied this and insisted that he joined the social experiment to find love.

'They think that we're gonna be the next Cam and Jules or Martha and Michael, and that's just not the case, it's not who we are,' Melissa said
