BT is preparing to accelerate its investment to roll out super-fast broadband to millions more homes. 

The company is getting ready to step up its target to install full-fibre cables to 20m homes and businesses by the mid-to-late 2020s.

Details will be announced on Thursday. Chief executive Philip Jansen has previously promised to ‘build like fury’ to hit targets. 

Improved broadband is a central part of the Prime Minister’s ‘levelling up’ agenda. 

The push forward has been made possible because the pension deficit is £2.2billion lower than expected at £7.5billion, The Sunday Telegraph reported, giving it more financial headroom.
