Budget fashion retailer Shein is ridiculed online for a VERY high-cut £9.99 bodysuit

Perfect for the return of Borat! Budget fashion retailer Shein is ridiculed for a VERY high-cut £9.99 bodysuit which resembles his famous ‘mankini’

  • Shein has been mercilessly mocked online for selling a very high-cut bodysuit
  • Customers left in hysterics after discovering the £9.99 garment on its website
  • Many shoppers said the barely-there black bodysuit resembled ‘Borat’s mankini’

Budget fashion retailer Shein has been mercilessly mocked online for selling a very high-cut bodysuit that’s been compared to ‘Borat’s mankini’.

British customers were left in hysterics after discovering the £9.99 Plus V-bar High Cut Bodysuit and its daring thigh-high slits which bizarrely reach just under the chest area.

A snap of one of Chinese-based Shein’s models advertising the long-sleeved garment was shared to Facebook, showing the item exposing half of the woman’s waist, hips, and half of her behind due to the design.

It comes as the comedy character’s new film Borat Subsequent Moviefilm: Delivery of Prodigious Bribe to American Regime for Make Benefit Once Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan is released tomorrow.

A Shein customer who spotted the risqué plus-size piece on the firm’s website shared it in a shopping group on the social media platform, writing: ‘What is this!?’

The post immediately attracted hundreds of laughing and shocked face emojis, along with comments from amused viewers over the weekend.

One shocked woman wrote: ‘High cut? That’s cut so high it’s practically flossing her teeth,’ while another said: ‘Sneeze and you’ll be sliced up to your belly button.’

A third added: ‘I don’t even know where my bits would end up if I tried wearing this,’ as a fourth joked: ‘Another one for the school run.’

Other social media users compared the garment with actor Sacha Baron Cohen’s Borat and his fluorescent green ‘mankini’.

Cohen’s second cinematic outing as the Kazakh journalist, Borat Subsequent Moviefilm: Delivery of Prodigious Bribe to American Regime for Make Benefit Once Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan, is due out this week.

In the sequel, Borat Sagdiyev returns to the United States from Kazakhstan to discover more about American culture, the COVID-19 pandemic and the 2020 elections.

Borat 2 comes 14 years after the 2006 box office phenomenon, Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan, which made $262million worldwide off a budget of just $18million.

Shein describes the bodysuit on its website as ‘sexy’ with a ‘slight stretch’, and the attire is available in XS to 4XL.

But it isn’t the first time the firm, which mainly targets Europe, America, Australia, and the Middle East, has left its shoppers baffled by their barely-there items.

Earlier this month the retailer hit the headlines for its tiny cut out bikini which only just covered customers’ private parts.

The Cut-out Halter Triangle Tie Side Bikini Swimsuit received more than 1400 reviews from customers who warned about the revealing style.

The swimsuits barely cover the breasts, with cut-out panels held in place by a tiny string, and it’s an equally provocative story on the lower body, where Brazilian G-string bottoms reveal almost every inch of the behind.
