Candace Cameron Bure dishes on friendship with Lori Loughlin following her release from prison

Candace Cameron Bure and Lori Loughlin starred together for eight seasons on the hit NBC sitcom Full House, beginning in 1988, and again in the Netflix sequel Fuller House for three more years, starting in 2016.

But Loughlin’s time on the series would end two seasons short of the sequel’s five season run when she was dropped due to her involvement in the 2019 college admissions bribery scandal.

In a new interview on Tuesday, Cameron Bure confirmed the former co-stars are still good friends and have been in communication since she served two-months in prison, after copping a plea deal in the connection to the case.

‘Yes, I’ve talked to Lori many times [since her release from prison],’ Cameron Bure, 45, said when asked about her current relationship with Loughlin during an appearance on the Daily Blast Live on Tuesday.

The actress, who played D.J. Tanner on both hit sitcoms added, ‘And she’s doing well.’

Loughlin, best known for her role as Aunt Becky on the two hit sitcoms, began serving her sentence at a federal corrections facility in Northern California on October 30, 2020.

The 56-year-old would eventually be released two months later, on December 30.

Her husband, fashion designer Mossimo Giannulli, 57, served out his five-month sentence for his involvement in the scandal in a federal prison from November 19, 2020 to April 2, 2021; the final two weeks were completed in home confinement.

Loughlin and Giannulli were among some 50 people, including actress Felicity Huffman, who were accused of paying bribes and cheating to help get their children into America’s top colleges.

Prosecutors alleged the couple paid $500,000 to get both of their daughters admitted into the University Of Southern California as recruits for the crew team, despite the fact that they had never participated in the sport.

Initially, they rejected a plea deal that many of the other parents allegedly involved in the scandal accepted, and then shortly later were slapped with added charges of money laundering and conspiracy.

But by May 2020, the couple had a change of heart and had their lawyers work out a plea deal.

Loughlin admitting to one count of conspiracy to commit wire and mail fraud, and Giannulli pleading guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit wire and mail fraud and one count of honest services wire and mail fraud.

A judge ended up approving the plea deal last August, sentencing the actress to two months in jail, a $150,000 fine and 150 hours of community service, and Giannulli to five months in jail, a $250,000 fine and 250 hours of community service.

Back in November 2020, Cameron Bure celebrated the one-year anniversary of wrapping production on the series finale of Fuller House with a post on Instagram.

One of the images she shared was a note written by Loughlin, just before the show wrapped.

‘Dearest Candace, Congratulations on a great run! Have a fabulous last week. I love you and miss you,’ the note read.

Cameron Bure later confirmed to Entertainment Tonight that her former co-star also sent her flowers to her and a few other people involved in the sitcom.

‘It was so nice to feel and have her presence there at the show… Yeah, it was really special,’ she said.
