Cat Deeley reveals she bought her wedding dress BEFORE meeting her husband Patrick Kielty

She’s been standing in for Lorraine Kelly on her breakfast show while the regular host takes a break.

And Cat Deeley revealed on Friday’s episode of Lorraine that she bought her Alexander McQueen wedding dress before she’d even met her husband of nine years, Patrick Kielty.

The beloved TV presenter, 44, explained: ‘It was so beautiful that I just couldn’t not buy it and I hadn’t even met Paddy at that stage and I literally put it in my cupboard.’

Cat told the anecdote during a fashion segment in which she discussed Boris Johnson’s wife Carrie Symonds’ wedding dress – that she rented for £45.

The beaming presenter said of her own dress: ‘Mine is in the cupboard somewhere but I’d actually already got my dress before…

‘It wasn’t because I was feeling lucky, I promise! It was a couture dress from Alexander McQueen – a shift white dress,

‘It was so beautiful that I just couldn’t not buy it and I hadn’t even met Paddy at that stage.

‘I literally put it in my cupboard and I was like I’ll wear it to something… I’ll wear it to some awards. There you go!’

Cat and her husband Paddy are fasting approaching their 10th wedding anniversary after tying the knot in an intimate ceremony in Rome in September 2012 following a long-term relationship.

The pair had been friends for years before things developed into romance after first striking up a bond while co-hosting Fame Academy back in 2002.

Speaking to the Made By Mammas podcast last year Cat revealed Paddy ‘knocked her socks off’ while they were dating.

She said: ‘It was my birthday and he’d rung me, he was at a pub in Ireland and he’d rung me from the pub.

‘Bear in mind it was probably about 2 o’clock in the morning because they’d had a lock-in.’

When Cat told him she was having a birthday brunch at Beverly Hills Hotel with a few friends, she said: ‘He said, “I’ll see you there!” I was like, there’s no way!

‘He went home, set his alarm for five, got up, went to the airport, flew from Belfast to London, then jumped on the first plane from London to LA, got in a cab, told the cabbie on his way from the airport what he was doing, and the driver was literally like “do you want me to wait for you?!”‘

‘He walked in, dropped his bags at the concierge, walked in and came and sat down for lunch! It knocked my socks off a little bit!’

The romantic gesture was the catalyst for the couple getting together, and they later  married and welcomed two sons, Milo, four, and James, two.

Talking about having children with Patrick, Cat said: ‘I’d always wanted to have kids, and he had, too.

‘What we didn’t want to do is put any stress and we just didn’t want to be anxious about it. It was like, “OK let’s just see how it goes”.

‘You will never meet a mum who isn’t trying to do her best. The more we can support each other with all that, the better.’
