Channel Nine reporter manages to keep his composure as he ‘cops a face full of bird poo’ during live TV cross

You can never predict what could happen on live TV.

And luckily for Channel Nine reporter Reid Butler, he managed to keep calm after a flying bird took aim at him while he was on air.

On Wednesday, the TV journalist was doing a live cross with the studio for the afternoon news bulletin from outside Melbourne’s Southern Cross Station.

Yuck! Channel Nine Melbourne reporter Reid Butler managed to keep his composure as he ‘copped a face full of bird poo’ during a live TV cross on Wednesday

He presented a package about potential Covid transmissions in the Victorian capital, that included a train from the suburb of Craigieburn.

While doing his live cross, the reporter received a splat of bird poo from above.

Ever the professional, Reid barely flinched as the unwelcome slop slowly dripped through his well-groomed hair.

Quick clean up: The live cross then cut to a video package played in the studio, which gave the camera man an opportunity to help clean up Reid

Reid shared the blooper on his Twitter and wrote in the caption: ‘First and hopefully last time I cop a face full of bird poo midway through a @9NewsMelb live cross.’

‘Going to buy a lotto ticket. Also, camo Trav is a legend for cleaning me up while the grab was playing,’ he added.

Carrying on: After the incident Reid carried on with the segment. He later shared the blooper on his Twitter and wrote in the caption: 'First and hopefully last time I cop a face full of bird poo midway through a @9NewsMelb live cross. Going to buy a lotto ticket,' he added

Funnily enough, this is not the first time a bird has released its droppings on Reid.

Back in October, he shared photos of himself on the job with bird poop on the front and back of him blue blazer.

Reid, who had a face mask on in the pictures, captioned the post: ‘Working on a Sunday isn’t so ba-.’
