She was seen stepping into the boat, while surrounded by members of the filming crew and then lay down peacefully and closed her eyes as the boy pushed her out to float the lake.

The star was assisted by a member of the production crew between takes who was seen fixing her hair as she sat still on the boat.

The programme follows Cora, played by Claire Danes, 41, a widow who is released from an abusive marriage and moves from London to Essex in search of a mythical sea creature.

The spokesperson told the Daily Mail at the time: ‘There wasn’t a comfortable scenario for Keira that could be put in place for an extended period of childcare required for the four-and-a-half-month production.’

‘They have a sizeable base on Promenade Park, and they will minimise any disruption during their filming and ensure safety can be maintained at all times.’

The council also reminded onlookers of the importance of social distancing measures staying in place.

‘We would remind everyone that while this is clearly exciting, social distancing must still be maintained at all times,’ the statement concluded.
