Comedian Fiona O’Loughlin reveals she got a tummy tuck to celebrate winning I’m A Celebrity

‘The phone didn’t ring’: Comedian Fiona O’Loughlin reveals she got a tummy tuck to celebrate winning I’m A Celebrity expecting a ‘big break’ after the show – but was ‘blacklisted’ and left struggling for cash

Fiona O’Loughlin won I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! in 2018 – and she expected work to come flowing in afterwards.

In celebration, the 57-year-old got a tummy tuck, and waited for her ‘big break’ – which never came, she writes in her new book, Truths From An Unreliable Witness.

In an except published in this week’s Stellar, the comedian writes: ‘I started living like the Queen I was crowned.

Winner: Fiona O’Loughlin won I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here! in 2018 (pictured) – and she expected work to come flowing in afterwards, but says she was ‘blacklisted’

‘I treated myself to a tummy tuck to get rid of my five-babies belly and the excess skin I had after losing 10kg in the jungle. After five caesareans, the surgery felt like a routine recovery, so I was sorted.

‘I rented a beautiful house in Melbourne and waited for the phone to ring. I knew someone was going to call and give me the big break that would set me up for life.’

However, she added:  ‘But the phone didn’t ring. By the time I gave up staring at it and willing it to vibrate, I started to worry about my financial situation.’

Fiona admits she had ‘no offers’ after appearing on the reality show, and believes that she’s judged more harshly for her past – she has been open about struggling with alcoholism – than famous men are.

She writes: ‘I hadn’t been drunk on screen since my early Good News Week appearances, but I felt like I’d been blacklisted for my reputation.’

Throughout her battle with alcoholism, Fiona has attempted suicide three times and was once left homeless.

In another dark stage, Fiona recently revealed she drank hand sanitiser during her shocking relapse on 2018’s I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!

While her relapse wasn’t caught on camera, producers realised what was going on when they noticed her slurred speech just a few days before she was crowned the winner of the series.

Fiona’s addiction will be discussed further in her upcoming autobiography, Truths from an Unreliable Witness: Finding Laughter in the Darkest of Places, which is released on October 27.
