Comedian Marty Sheargold brands former Australian cricketer Shane Warne a ‘turd’

Comedian Marty Sheargold brands Shane Warne ‘one of the great turds’ but admits ‘he’s good at cricket’ during frank interview on The Project

There’s clearly no love lost between Marty Sheargold and Shane Warne.

The 49-year-old comedian was being interviewed on Wednesday’s episode of The Project when he branded Shane a ‘turd’.

After announcing he was leaving Nova FM’s Kate, Tim & Marty drive show last month, the veteran radio presenter admitted while he’d met some ‘great people’ during his career, he’d also met some ‘turds’.

The Project’s Peter Helliar asked him to elaborate, and was stunned when Marty didn’t hesitate in naming the cricket legend, 50, ‘one of the great turds’.

‘I’ll start with Shane Warne. One of the great turds,’ he began, before adding, ‘But he’s good at cricket, I know that, I’m not an idiot.’

Speaking on his radio show in October 2014, Marty revealed he’d been snubbed by Shane during a night at Melbourne’s Crown Casino, as reported by Daily Mail Australia at the time.

Marty said he’d been with a friend at the Club 23 bar, when they spotted Shane partying in a private roped off area.

They approached a security guard and asked to meet the former sports star, only to have their request quickly shut down by Shane himself.

‘Then Warnie looks straight at me… and he goes, “No,”‘ he recounted.

But a persistent Marty said he managed to sneak into Shane’s roped off area through the back, and proceeded to drink his alcohol.

While Marty found the whole incident hilarious, Shane clearly wasn’t laughing, and later tweeted that it had been a ‘private function’.

‘Clarity, private function with my @888poker team, 2 guys asked to come in, didn’t know them, easy no! What’s the problem,’ he wrote at the time.
