The band came fourth on the series, and were later signed to Simon Cowell’s Syco record label before being dropped.

Asked whether the music mogul had been in touch since then, Sonny replied: ‘I haven’t heard from him since. But there’s no hard feelings.’

Sonny’s journey on Dancing On Ice has been plain sailing so far, with him and Angela just one of seven couples left in the competition.

Last week saw the pair catch the judges eye as they became the first couple to do overhead lifts.

Christopher Dean was particularly impressed, telling him that he noticed how ‘silent on the ice’ he was at the beginning of the routine which means he’s ‘got the blade just right’.

This year’s series of the skating show has already seen four couples withdraw – Emmerdale star Joe-Warren Plant and comedian Rufus Hound were both forced to leave after they tested positive for coronavirus.

Meanwhile, West End star Denise Van Outen and former TOWIE star Billie Faiers both withdrew after sustaining injuries.
