Danny Dyer wasn’t impressed with daughter Dani’s boyfriend Sammy Kimmence the first time they met

Danny Dyer has admitted he wanted to ‘kneecap’ his daughter Dani’s boyfriend Sammy Kimmence the first time she brought him home.

The Love Island star, 24, is currently expecting her first child with stockbroker Sammy, also 24, but her other half didn’t make a great first impression on her father.

Danny made the admission on the latest episode of his and Dani’s podcast Sorted With The Dyers as they discussed Dani’s pregnancy and his young son Arty, 7.

As they read out a message from a listener, Danny was reminded of the first time Dani brought Sammy home.

He said: ‘I think he was out in the garden playing with Artie and I was watching him through the window, just trying to see what kneecap I could break first.

‘And you started talking about frothy coffees,’ Danny added, as his daughter laughed at the memory.

However, the EastEnders actor confirmed that he warmed to his daughter’s boyfriend quickly after they met.

He said: ‘But I thought, “your heart’s in the right place.” But listen, this is how you know he’s the one, if you want to make him a f**king frothy coffee!

Dani first dated Sammy in 2018 before they split up and she rose to fame on ITV’s Love Island where she won the show with Jack Fincham.

She and Jack later called it quits in April 2019 and soon after it was reported Dani and Sammy had rekindled their romance.

They confirmed they are expecting their first child together in July, with Dani documenting much of her pregnancy journey on social media.

Dani added that her mother Joanne has been a great source of help to her over the last few months as she prepares to become a mum herself.

The star said: ‘She has been such a legend, honestly. That woman, I just don’t know what I would have done without her.

Danny added: ‘I’ve never seen so much baby stuff in my life,’ to which Dani replied: ‘She’s been ironing them all! I’m like, “mum you don’t need to iron a vest”.’

It comes after it was claimed Dani is ‘upset, worried and terrified’ after learning Sammy will stand trial, weeks after she is due to give birth in January.

Sammy appeared in court back in February accused of scamming two elderly men out of £34,000 by posing as a financial investor, but his court case was adjourned due to the pandemic.

The stockbroker denies carrying on a regulated activity – providing investment services – between July 2016 to December 2018 while not an authorised or exempt person.

Dani split from Sammy a month after his court hearing but reunited their romance shortly after and announced she was pregnant in July.

A source told The Sun: ‘Dani is upset, worried, terrified. Without a court date they kind of pushed this all to the back of their minds – now it is very real.

‘She’s expecting a child with a bloke who could go to prison. Her baby is due at the end of January and then Sammy will be up in court a few weeks later.

‘Those first few weeks of having a newborn baby are so special but it will also be the countdown to his trial.’

MailOnline has contacted Dani’s representatives for comment.

Sammy’s alleged victims, Peter Martin and Peter Haynes, were said to have been clients at a legitimate investment company where Kimmence previously worked.

Sammy, from Rayleigh, Essex, allegedly took the clients on when the business stopped operating, falsely claiming he was authorised to provide financial services.

Prosecutor Mike Mason told the court in March ‘special measures’ have been put in place for Kimmence’s alleged victims. A court register previously stated the men, who both live on the south coast, are potentially ‘vulnerable’.

At the 15 minute plea and trial preparation hearing, Mr Mason said: ‘We anticipate this is a three or four day trial.

‘Bearing in mind the two complainants in this case – one is 90 and one is 80 – we have asked for special measures for both of them.’

Sammy denies carrying on a regulated activity – providing investment services – between July 2016 to December 2018 while not an authorised or exempt person.

He also denies participating in a fraudulent business, namely ‘S&S Trading Ltd’, carried on by a sole trader after he allegedly tried to defraud creditors by offering financial investment services over the same period of time.
