David Walliams gave a rare insight into his son, Alfred, seven, on Thursday’s episode of Lorraine.
The Britain’s Got Talent judge, 49, joked that the youngster, who he shares with ex-wife Lara Stone, isn’t ‘interested’ in his children’s books.
David appeared via video from his home on the ITV chat show, alongside his two beloved border terriers, to talk about his latest book Code Name Bananas.

Yet chat soon turned to his on Alfred where he revealed that he often tests out new writing material on him although he isn’t that ‘interested’ in his books.
David quipped: ‘The good thing is that my son is now seven, so there is an opportunity for me to try out things, especially things like titles on him.
‘I’ll go, ”Do you think Code Name Bananas is a good title, do you think that’s funny, can you ask your friends at school?” It’s good to be able to test things out on kids as much as possible.’
Although David added: ‘I say, ”Would you like to read daddy’s books tonight?” And he is like, ”No! No!” He is not that interested.

‘But I kind of just like to be dad, I don’t want him to be in therapy for years to come going, ”My dad made me read all of his books and wouldn’t let me read anyone else’s!”
David sweetly revealed that they like to read books together and take turns with the chapters, he added: ‘But we like to read together, he reads a chapter and I read a chapter.
‘We are reading Roald Dahl’s The Twits at the moment and I am enjoying that immensely.’
The children’s author’s most high-profile relationship to date was with Dutch model Lara Stone, with whom he shares son Alfred, seven.
The former couple wed in May 2010 after just one year of dating, and split in October 2015.

Elsewhere during the chat, David revealed that he wants to work with Little Britain co-star Matt Lucas again.
The actor also admitted that he was ‘quite jealous’ of Matt’s new role of co-presenter of The Great British Bake Off, he is hosting alongside Noel Fielding.
He said: ‘You are in a lovely tent with Paul Hollywood eating cakes all day, I can’t think of anything better. I am quite jealous actually. I would love that gig and him and Noel have such a wonderful chemistry, so he is thrilled, he is really loving that.’
Talking about Matt working on GBBO, he continued: ‘He has brought something really fresh to the show, he has brought his silliness.
‘Matt has absolutely no vanity, he says it’s very important for a comedian to have no vanity because as a comedian you are always making yourself look silly.

‘Some comedians, and I won’t name any names, do have a bit of vanity and I think they never let themselves go. Whereas Matt is like, ”If you want to dress me up as a cake, sure!”
Teasing future projects with Matt, David added: ‘We are having a socially distanced walk tomorrow. He is walking in Hyde Park and I am walking in Regent’s Park, but we are going to meet up and discuss things.
‘We did Little Brexit together and we did Children In Need: Big Night In… We definitely want to work together again.’
It proves the comic duo have well and truly reconciled, following a near-decade-long feud that lasted from 2011 until at least 2018.

David and Matt recently reunited on-screen during the Britain’s Got Talent final last month.
The comedy duo also confirmed they had very much buried the hatchet when they posed together at the 40th birthday party of their mutual pal, actor Luke Evans in April 2019.
Between 2011 and 2018 – when they both attended Dale Winton’s funeral – neither Little Britain star were seen in public together.
Matt released his autobiography Little Me: The A-Z Of Matt Lucas in 2018 in which he uncovered their explosive backstage fights as well the manic performances that made them, briefly, the most celebrated comedy duo in the country.
In the tome he snipes: ‘Walliams has now sold so many children’s books he can probably buy his own private jet, all decked out in pink, with a river inside it for him to swim up’ — a swipe at the fame Walliams acquired when he swam the Channel and, later on, the length of the Thames.

In his autobiography, Matt revealed how tensions boiled between the pair in 2005 during their Little Britain Live tour, leading to a spectacular backstage fight.
David and Matt first met in The National Youth Theatre, and broke onto the comedy scene with the sketch series Little Britain in 2003.
The series created iconic characters such as Andy and Lou (with the catchphrase ‘I don’t like it’), Vicky Pollard (‘Yeah but no yeah but no but’) and Carol Beer (‘Computer says no’).
After three series the show concluded in 2005, but sparked a US spin-off three years later and numerous one-off specials for Comic and Sport Relief.
David previously spoke about their disputes whilst promoting his own autobiography, Camp David in 2012. Speaking to BBC Radio 4’s Mark Lawson he admitted: ‘We’re very different people and probably want different things and had different working methods.’
When asked whether his use of past tense implied the partnership is finished, David added: ‘Well, it’s over for the time being. Whether it’s over for ever I don’t know. But Matt wanted to go off and do his own thing, he wanted to be himself on a show, he wanted to do The Matt Lucas Awards and that’s why at the moment we are not doing things together.
‘Whether we will in the future, I don’t know. I certainly hope so. But for the moment I’m enjoying my freedom.’
Since their split David has gone onto land a spot on the Britain’s Got Talent in 2012 – and has remained ever since – alongside publishing a series of children’s books, and was awarded an OBE last year for services to charity and the arts.
Meanwhile Matt went onto land a regular role as Nardole opposite Peter Capaldi in Doctor Who in 2015, as well as plenty of TV guest appearances.
He has also starred in Hollywood movies such as Alice In Wonderland and Bridesmaids and recently became the newest Great British Bake Off host.
