The athlete was caught in the position of not being able to return to Australia due to borders slamming shut on India due to the covid outbreak.

At the height of the outbreak, the country was recording 400,000 new covid cases per day.

David, who was playing in the Indian Premier League, shared a heartbreaking message from his three young girls begging their dad to come home from India.
