A four-part documentary about the former Disney Channel star titled Dancing With The Devil premiered in March and included previously unknown details about her near-fatal drug overdose in 2018.

Lovato told TMZ this week that she’s been emotionally jolted by rapper DMX’s drug overdose, which has left him fighting for his life.

As of Wednesday night, DMX, 50, whose real name is Earl Simmons, was reported to be on life support at the White Plains Hospital in New York after being admitted there on Friday.

Lovato, who overdosed on heroin and fentanyl in 2018, said the news has given her ‘survivor’s guilt’.

Speaking to TMZ via video link, the Cool For The Summer songstress admitted: ‘Any time I see someone OD or pass away that’s in the public eye I immediately think “that could have been you had you not been putting all this work into the last couple of years of your life”.

Lovato went on: ‘There’s times I’ve felt like feeling survivor’s guilt. You do ask yourself “why am I still here, why are others not?” It’s challenging. I have to realize that every day is a day that someone else doesn’t get.

‘Every day I am here on this earth is a day I count my blessings. It makes me want to live the best life I can possibly have knowing others didn’t get the chance…’

In addition to her candid documentary, Lovato has also made headlines lately with her revelation that she identifies as ‘pansexual’ and plans on adopting children in the future.

‘In this moment I want to adopt [children] for sure,’ she explained on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast. ‘I also don’t know if I’m going to end up with a guy, so I can’t really see myself even getting pregnant.’

She continued: ‘I don’t know. I’m so fluid now, and a part of the reason why I am so fluid is because I was super closeted off.’

To clarify, the $100million dollar podcast host asked Demi to elaborate on her sexual fluidity and whether that means she is pansexual – meaning she is attracted to a person regardless of sexual or gender identity.

‘What do they call that? ‘Pansexual’?’ Rogan asked. ‘Yeah, pansexual,’ Demi said, quipping: ‘[I like] anything, really.’

While reflecting on her sexual identity, Demi told Rogan that she had her sexual awakening watching the kissing scene between Sarah Michelle Gellar and Selma Blair in the 1999 teen drama Cruel Intentions.

‘[I] felt a lot of shame because growing up in Texas as a Christian, that’s very frowned upon. I shut it down before I even let myself process what I was feeling,’ she said.
