Derek Jeter sells Tampa mansion that he rented to Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen for $22.5 million

Derek Jeter is down one mansion and up a cool $22.5 million.

The 46-year-old New York Yankees legend sold his enormous waterfront mansion near Tampa, which makes it the largest residential real estate transaction in city history, according to TMZ.

The home gained added prominent last year when it was reported that former New England Patriots star and current Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady, 43, and his model wife Gisele Bündchen, 40, had been renting out the mansion temporarily.

Sold! Derek Jeter, 46, and his wife Hannah, 31, have sold their massive 30,000-square foot mansion near Tampa for an eye-popping $22.5 million, according to TMZ on Friday

Derek, and his model wife Hannah Jeter, 31, originally listed the home for $29 million when they first put it on the market back in September.

There was instant interest in the choice property once it went on the market, according to realtors in the area.

The new pay day is the largest ever in Tampa, according to the real estate company Smith & Associates.

The company also said that interested parties had to undergo a thorough background check before seeing the property in order to make sure only serious candidates were considered.

Although the mansion had another famous couple staying in it recently, the new buyer reportedly is not Tom and Gisele.

Instead, the football icon and the catwalk star are living nearby after moving out recently.

Tom and Gisele are currently building a new home for themselves in the elite Indian Creek Island community of Miami.

The new location will make them neighbors with Ivanka Trump and her husband Jared Kushner, which may be a great combination, as Tom has been a longtime friend of former President Donald Trump, though he said he grew ‘uncomfortable’ with their relationship during a Howard Stern interview from 2020.

The pricy location is also home to Jared’s brother Joshua Kushner and his wife Karlie Kloss, though the couple haven’t been shy about their political differences from their conservative in-laws.

The Miami location will also put them closer to Derek again, as he and Hannah moved to Miami before deciding to sell the Tampa mansion, which made it possible for Tom’s family to stay there.

The home was reportedly a great fit for the quarterback, who held workouts on the grounds.

Derek’s company first purchased three adjacent lots on Davis Islands, an exclusive Florida enclave, back in 2005 and 2006 for $7.7 million and completed construction on the home in 2011.

Although he bought the property for a steal, it ended up undergoing significant renovations, which contributed to the current sky-high price tag.

‘This is the most impressive home to ever hit the market in the Tampa Bay area,’ Stephen Gay, the Smith & Associates Real Estate agent who has the listing told the New York Times.

The sprawling waterfront estate spreads out over 1.25 acres of land on Hillsborough Bay and is a combination of three adjacent lots that Jeter’s company bought about 15 years ago.

'You would think with a house that's this large, you'd just get lost in it,' the real estate agent told the NYT. 'But with the mixed scale of the rooms, it's not like everything is so formal and segregated. It's definitely not a casual house, but it's very livable.'

If the property sounds like it is extraordinarily large and astronomically expensive, that is because it is – according to the Times, the estate is the largest-scale and priciest place ever build on Davis Islands.

Interest in the place by fans and rubber-neckers has only grown since it was first reported back in April that Jeter had rented his mansion to Tom Brady and Giselle Bundchen.

The Brady’s, along with their two children, Benjamin and Vivian, decided to call St. Jetersburg home after Tom signed a $50 million deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

At the time, the Tampa Bay Times reported that the Brady family was planning on living at Jeter’s mansion for the foreseeable future.

And, locals have dubbed it ‘St. Jetersburg’ and ‘The Great Wall of Jeter’, in reference to a massive privacy wall surrounding the estate.

While an exact number was never revealed, estimates have put the monthly rent for the space in the ballpark of $100K a month.

During quarantine, Brady was spotted training for football season in the estate’s sprawling backyard.

Despite listing the home while the celebrity family is still in residence, Derek and Tom worked out a deal so that prospective buyers wouldn’t bother or even see them.
