Drake says it was ‘freeing’ to start sharing photos of his son Adonis, two, on social media

Drake has opened up about his decision to start share photos of his son Adonis on Instagram – two years after his birth.

‘It was great for me. It was great to just share that with the world,’ the four-time Grammy winner revealed on Lil Wayne’s Young Money Radio on Apple Music. ‘I just woke up one morning and I was like, you know what? This is just something that I want to do.’

The 33-year-old God’s Plan hitmaker, who previously kept his toddler out of the public eye, posted a series of candid snaps of himself, Adonis and ex Sophie Brussaux at the end of March.

He explained his Instagram, which garnered more than 6.5 million likes, felt very ‘freeing.’

‘I want to be able to go places with my son and share memories with my son. I don’t want to feel like, just, because of a life choice I made to be a celebrity, that I got to make everybody live under this blanket,’ he noted.

The 33-year-old rapper also praised Young Money for how he balances his career and fatherhood.

‘I’ve watched you be a functioning rap father for years, an incredible father. And that gave me a lot of confidence too,’ he told his pal.

I could just tell, the way your kids would stare at you,’ Drake said. ‘That was really inspiring for me, just to know that I can still keep pushing forward, as a musician and be there for my son.’

Back in October 11, 2017, Sophie gave birth to Adonis, but Drake did not acknowledge the existence of his child until the release of his album Scorpion in late June 2018.

Ending months of speculation, he sang about his child in the lyrics to his track Emotionless.

Speaking about his experience of fatherhood, he revealed: ‘I wasn’t hiding my kid from the world/I was hiding the world from my kid.

‘Breakin’ news in my life I don’t run to the blogs/ The only ones I wanna tell are the ones I can call.’

Referencing his former fling, the Take Care singer admitted the pair had only actually met on two occasions.

He added: ‘I had to come to terms with the fact that it’s not a maybe. That s*** is in stone, sealed and signed.

‘She’s not my lover like Billie Jean, but the kid is mine. S***, we only met two times.’

A month earlier, however, Pusha T brought the child into the public eye with his diss track The Story of Adidon.

‘You are hiding a child, let that boy come home/Deadbeat mothaf***a playin’ border patrol,’ rapped the Daytona creator before revealing the child’s name to the public for the first time.

Since his son’s existence became public knowledge, Drake has talked about wanting to be on good terms with Sophie, who he claimed to have only met twice before they conceived the child.

Speaking on LeBron James’ HBO show The Shop, he said he was initially ‘scared’ to tell his mother about the situation, because he was never in a relationship with his child’s mother.
