Seeing red: EastEnders fans were left rejoicing on Monday night after Shirley Carter discovered Katy Lewis abused son Mick Carter when he was just 12 years old

After the police had come knocking, Katy stormed around to Mick’s place to demand he not spill the beans about what happened between them, as she goaded him by telling him that no one had believed him.

Mick had kept the abuse, and the fact he was Frankie’s father, a secret from his whole family, with his wife Linda (Kellie Bright) only recently learning the truth.

However, Monday saw Shirley become the latest person to find out after she overheard Katy threatening Mick.

Katy had seethed: ‘I told you what I would do, Michael. And you know what people will think. Who’s going to believe a ‘Jack the lad’, care home kid got groomed by little old me, eh? Everybody knows that rape runs in your family, right?’

Mick responded: ‘Tell them. Tell the whole world, tell the old Bill, tell them whatever you want because I’m sick of it, and I’m sick of thinking about it. Do you really think I want people knowing about this? Do you?’

As Katy then laid on the fake fears, she then told him to think what the news would do to their daughter Frankie, before telling him that she would deny everything to the police.

At that point, Shirley made her presence known and leered at Katy who quickly made a run for it, while Mick begged his mother to leave it.

However, an incensed Shirley chased after her before launching an attack, punching Katy in the face before kicking her on the ground.

As Phil and Ben Mitchell witnessed the beating and questioned Shirley’s motives, Mick could only watch on in horror, fearful his secret could now be out.

After stopping only after seeing Mick’s face, Shirley then picked yup the phone and rang the police to report the abuse.

Taking to Twitter, EastEnders fans expressed their joy at Shirley’s actions, with many claiming that Katy got what she deserved after her crimes.
