While Bridgerton fans have been in uproar over the departure of show’s dashing lead Rege-Jean Page, who starred as the Duke of Hastings, Julian Fellowes believes the Netflix hit costume drama can quickly bounce back.
The Downton Abbey creator tells me: ‘There are characters in shows who are key, there is no point in denying it, but the truth of the matter is most of the audience — however much they loved him — will give the second series a chance because they enjoyed the first so much. The show must go on.’
For Page it has, as the 31-year-old actor has been linked with a move to MI6 as a character in the next James Bond film, which remains top secret.
