Emily Andre admits she was shocked when husband Peter contracted Covid

Emily Andre has admitted she was left shocked when she discovered her husband Peter had tested positive for coronavirus earlier this year.

In her new magazine column, the doctor, 31, described the spread of the virus as ‘worrying’ as she insisted the musician, 47, ‘really sticks to the rules’ and only steps out to buy essentials at their local shop.

The mother-of-two, who shares Amelia, six, and Theo, four, with the singer, revealed the Mysterious Girl hitmaker has made a ‘good recovery’ following his battle and also shared she is scheduled to receive her first vaccine in the next few weeks.

Detailing her surprise at Peter’s diagnosis, the healthcare professional told OK!: ‘We used to joke about how Pete was the only one in lockdown because I was at work and the kids were at school.

‘He really sticks to the rules so we couldn’t believe he was the one who ended up getting it. As I haven’t had Covid for nine months I thought there was a chance I could get infected again, but thankfully I was fine and so were all the kids.

‘We’ve gone over and over it and we still have no idea how he got it. Pete is thankfully fully better after testing positive for coronavirus, and we are out of isolation. We feel so lucky he didn’t get it too badly… luckily he made a good recovery.’

Earlier this week, the father-of-four, who also raises son Junior, 15, and daughter Princess, 13, with ex-wife Katie Price, 42, said he was ‘absolutely convinced’ he didn’t have the virus at first.

During Tuesday’s Good Morning Britain, the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! star warned viewers not to ignore their symptoms as it could be the virus.

The TV personality said: ‘It’s quite unbelievable everyone has different symptoms, don’t ignore your symptoms because they’re not all going to be the same.

‘To the point when I had symptoms and I was absolutely convinced I didn’t have the virus, even you were convinced right?’

Peter told co-presenters Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid that he had a temperature, body aches, and a cough that was persistent enough for him to be concerned and get a test.

‘The key thing is once I went and got the test we self-isolated for ten days so we knew once we got the positive result that in that ten days we could not infect anyone else, and that was massive for us,’ he explained.

‘There were a couple of [bad] days, but people have had it far worse than me, one of my cousins is still on oxygen now, he’s worse than me so it goes to show everyone has different symptoms, you can’t ignore it, you cant.’

The presenter explained that his cousin continues to suffer from coronavirus and has been on oxygen since before the singer contracted the virus.

He added: ‘My cousin and his son were sick, they were both sick, both in hospital, and both on oxygen and his son was younger than me.

‘Psychologically, what this is doing to a lot of people, we are so scared about what is going to happen and how it’s going to affect people.

‘When I heard my cousin was still in hospital now it really brought it home how serious this is.’
