Expensive parking fail! Porsche hits SUV in driveway then careers over wall and lands on another car

  • Porsche driver suffered major parking fail as they crashed over wall in Essex
  • It is thought the motorist accidentally hit the accelerator instead of the brake
  • The supercar is believed to be a Porsche Taycan and is valued at over £83,000

A Porsche driver had a very expensive parking fail when they accidentally slammed on the accelerator and went speeding over a wall on top of another car.

The motorist hit an SUV parked in a driveway and then careered over a wall and landed on another car in the street in the Essex coastal town of Manningtree.

CCTV footage from another house captured the disaster on a quiet cul-de-sac involving what is believed to be a powerful electric Porsche Taycan.

In the clip, the Porsche is seen slowly making its way up a sloped driveway. It stops on the hill as though about to park then unexpectedly swerves to the right.

The car speeds into an SUV parked in front of a garage and sends it spinning towards the house, before continuing on its path of destruction and careering over a wall.

It lands on top of a parked car below, sending it skidding down the road. The Porsche finally stops, balanced precariously between the wall and the blue car.

A neighbour told Sun Online that the Porsche driver had been visiting a neighbour when he crashed and was ‘pretty shaken up’ but didn’t suffer any serious injuries.

They said: ‘I heard it happen, it was a loud crashing noise. He was pretty shaken up. He had a few bumps and bruises, but he was OK. He seemed like a really nice, genuine guy and he’d just smashed up his new Porsche.’

The video posted online yesterday received almost 7,000 views. Viewers speculated that the driver had hit the wrong pedal and accelerated rather than braked.

The Porsche Taycan is amongst the fastest electric cars on the market, with prices starting at £83,000 and rising to £139,000 for the Turbo S model.

The Turbo S hits 60 miles per hour in 2.6 seconds, and 62mph in 2.8 seconds.

The electric super car can also drive up to 253 miles on low-cost electric power and costs only £7.92 for a full charge.

Motoring journalist Adrian Padeanu said the vehicle’s ‘instant torque’ might have been to blame if the driver ‘stepped on the gas pedal a bit too much and the Taycan’s electric motors did their thing’.

Writing on Motor1, he added: ‘After all, even the base 4S has an instant torque of 477 pound-feet (647 Newton-meters) of torque.

‘Porsche has launched a lesser single-motor version with rear-wheel drive, but this car riding on the Mission E concept’s wheels can’t be it since it’s only available in China for the time being.’
