Foxtel in ‘advanced discussions’ to bring Celebrity Gogglebox Australia to audiences in 2021

It took out the Best Factual Entertainment Program at this year’s Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Awards.

And to keep it fresh after 12 seasons on air, Gogglebox Australia is producing a star-studded outing to keep the franchise at the forefront of viewer’s minds in 2021.

In an interview with TV Tonight on Saturday, Foxtel Executive Director of Television Brian Walsh revealed a celebrity version was on the way. 

‘It’s an obvious evolution for the format, particularly now post the Covid lockdowns,’ he told the website.

‘We all bunkered down during winter and watched a lot more television and Gogglebox became more relevant than ever.

‘It’s a proven hit in the U.K. and I’m confident we can replicate that success.’

While he did not reveal who he had in mind for the cast, Brian told Running Free Live on Thursday: ‘The casting will be as interesting as Real housewives of Melbourne, I think!’ 

The star-studded cast could include the likes of breakfast radio personality Jackie ‘O’ Henderson, according to TV Blackbox in April.

The update follows Gogglebox star Isabelle Silbery sharing a picture of herself and her fiancé, Alex Richards, during a Melbourne staycation at Park Hyatt.   

‘Surprise staycation wants to spend quality time together,’ Isabelle captioned the picture of the pair sitting on a bed in a suite while watching cricket on a laptop on December 2.

The loved-up couple then posed for a picture in a marble bathroom together, putting on a tactile display while wearing their bathrobes. 

Outside of their stunning suite, the duo enjoyed a couple of cocktails while at the Rialto Towers. They then dined at popular five star restaurant, Vue De Monde.
