The frost moon will look full for about two to three days and is also known as the Beaver Moon or Mourning Moon.

This year, the frost moon features a partial lunar eclipse which will be visible to the eye for about an hour, but will be so faint that some people ‘will swear nothing is happening even while staring straight at it,’ EarthSky reports.

The various names come from Native American groups who used the moon to track the seasons.

It comes as forecasters have warned freezing temperatures of around -5C could sweep across the UK by next week and bring with it a blanket of snow.
