A bride-to-be has desperately sought advice from others online after her boyfriend proposed with his mother’s ‘ugly’ engagement ring.

While she appreciated the sentimental gesture, she isn’t particularly fond of the ring and isn’t sure whether to tell her fiancé or not.

‘We’ve been engaged since Christmas and I’ve been wearing it to see if I will grow on me but it hasn’t,’ she wrote on Facebook.

The woman asked whether she should speak to her fiancé about the ring dilemma or ‘grin and bear it’.

It’s a difficult dilemma as the woman doesn’t want to offend her fiancé or his mother by rejecting the ring.

Many suggested speaking to her fiancé about the dilemma, others recommended asking if the ring can be modified, while some said to simply accept it.

‘Be honest. His mother got the ring of her choice, you should too … You both should love it,’ one woman said.

‘It’s not your ring from him. It’s his mother’s ring and although that is very sweet, it’s just not yours. Telling him will be difficult but I think that you should,’ another suggested.

A third said: ‘He’s literally devoting his life to you, just wear it. It’s not something just for you to show off to people to brag, it’s meaningful to him and it should be to you.’

‘A ring is not important, it’s the sentimental gestures that remind you of the day he proposed,’ another said.
