Outdoor equipment retailer Go Outdoors poised to call in administrators

Outdoor equipment retailer Go Outdoors was yesterday poised to call in administrators.

The firm’s parent, JD Sports, filed a notice to appoint administrators on Friday, putting 2,300 jobs and 67 stores at risk.

Manchester-based JD bought Go Outdoors for £112m in 2016 but the business has struggled, particularly since the virus crisis.

Deloitte is understood to have been put in charge of the administration process, which could see Go Outdoors undergo a restructuring to ease its debts and rent obligations.

Fellow retailers Debenhams, Monsoon Accessorize, Cath Kidston and Laura Ashley have also recently collapsed.
