Going, going, gone! Mick Fanning sells his Coolangatta duplex for $2.8million – after he delayed the auction

Australian surfer Mick Fanning sold his Coolangatta duplex for $2.8million at auction on Saturday.  

According to Realestate.com, the 39-year-old delayed the auction of the property by a week to allow bidders to get their finances in order.  

There were nine registered bidders at the auction, with two parties entering a bidding war.

The final buyer, who wishes to remain anonymous, is a local from the area and bought the property as an investment. 

There are two large apartments in the block and two granny flats, which means four potential income streams for buyers. 

The larger apartments are expected to yield around $750 per week, and the granny flats $450 each week.

Located just a short walk from the popular Rainbow Bay and Coolangatta Beach, the home is a surfers dream. 

Mick purchased the beachside units for $3.1million in 2007 and has since repainted the block and renovated the interiors in a beachy, bohemian style. 

According to the publication, he still owns two other properties in the same street, which he bought in 2005 and 2006 for $1.39m and $1.2m respectively.

Family: He is engaged to American model Breeana Randall, 28, and the pair welcomed a son, Xander Dean, in August last year

Mick, who hails from Sydney’s Penrith, is one of Australia’s most cerebrated surfers.

He survived a shark attack during a competition in South Africa in 2015, an incident which made global headlines.
