Grant Denyer is caught sipping on a beer at the I’m A Celeb after party after vowing to go sober

I’m A Celebrity star Grant Denyer was spotted enjoying a beer at the show’s official after party on Sunday.

The 43-year-old television personality and Gold Logie winner cut a casual figure as he enjoyed a beverage at the bash, while his heavily pregnant wife Chezzi was seen leaving her hotel with their two daughters.

It comes after Grant vowed to ditch the booze and go sober last month, in an interview with The Daily Telegraph.

Sipping away: On Sunday, Gold Logie winner Grant Denyer was caught sipping on a beer at the I’m A Celebrity after party in Sydney – after vowing to go sober

On the show last month, Grant candidly admitted to his fellow campmates he felt anxious and drank to excess prior to appearing on the show.

Chezzi also fought back tears when she appeared on Studio 10 and broke her silence on Grant’s confession that he has issues with drinking.

But on Sunday, it appears that Grant decided to have a cheeky drink as he celebrated the end of the show.

He appeared in good spirits as enjoyed a Pure Blonde, as the cast and crew celebrated Abbie Chatfield’s jungle win.

Last month on I’m A Celebrity, Grant admitted to having issues with alcohol and drinking in excess to cope with anxiety.

Grant told his fellow campmates he felt anxious and drank to excess prior to appearing on the show.

'I'd never put two and two together, and I've been asking myself this question for, far out. Five years? Do I have a problem? And I think the answer is, I do,' he confessed

‘And it was coming in here, watching how I couldn’t control the pace at which I was drinking, because I do everything fast.

‘[I realised] I was trying to stem the fear and anxiety of what we were about to do and I thought, I think I do that every week.’

Grant said he didn’t realise he had a problem, or signs he had a problem, until he went on the show.

‘I think I’ve only just realised from coming in here that I drink to lessen anxiety, which I didn’t really realise I had until I saw the pattern of fear coming into here and the anticipation of a new gig and will I fit in? Is it gonna be fun?’ he said.

‘Am I gonna be able to be successful in the challenges? Can I be funny for that long? All of these things, and I just started going like this [mimics drinking].’

Grant went on to tell The Daily Telegraph that he was going to cut the booze out of his life for good.

‘I want to push the button on cancelling it (alcohol) altogether and see how I go,’ the 43-year-old told the publication.

Last month, Chezzi broke her silence on Grant’s comments and fought back tears as she praised him during an interview with Studio 10.

‘It is something that we have spoken about a number of times, but I really felt the penny dropped when he was talking to Mel [Buttle] during that conversation.’

Meanwhile on I’m A Celebrity last month, Grant also addressed claims he ‘had a significant drug issue’ during an emotional conversation with co-star Toni Pearen.

A hesitant Toni, 48, asked the TV host about tabloid reports several years ago that suggested he and his wife of 10 years, Chezzi Denyer, had ‘gone off the rails’.

‘For me, the worst of it happened at a time when I was at my worst and wasn’t very strong,’ the 43-year-old began.

‘I basically had chronic fatigue. I’d run myself into the ground. Yeah, it was a horrible period. I was the breadwinner. And, you know, we had a kid.’

Grant said his exhaustion made him unable to fulfil his obligations at Channel Seven, who he was employed by at the time.

‘Someone sold a story to a magazine that claimed we had a significant drug issue. That wasn’t true,’ he continued.

‘Just, you know, how do you counter so many stories and articles once the gossip machine is fired up?

‘They’re totally made up, ludicrously ridiculous stories that are just fabricated to sell magazines. It was hard. It was really hard. You don’t know what to do. You’re so scared.’

He added: ‘You just don’t know where to run ’cause they’re coming at you from every angle and you just want to go and never come back.’

‘So we got away from it all. We went overseas and just worked on ourselves.’

An emotional Grant admitted that Chezzi, 40, ‘had a fair bit of PTSD [post traumatic stress disorder] from it all’, while he was concerned he’d never land another television job.

‘I’m surprised that anybody touched me after that. I really am. But Family Feud came along and, as I said in my Gold Logie speech, it saved my career and it also saved me,’ he admitted, wiping away tears from his eyes.

He added: ‘Got me out of that hole. Very lucky it came along. Because I remember they were really ruthless… It was just so horrible.’

A report published by Woman’s Day magazine in February 2014 claimed that Grant and Chezzi had sought treatment for a methamphetamine habit at The Cabin rehab facility in Thailand.

At the time of the allegations, Denyer’s manager, Titus Day, issued a statement resolutely denying them, saying the host was being treated in Thailand for an ‘ongoing unknown stomach illness’.

‘The wellness centre they attended in Thailand specialises in the treatment of PTSD and exhaustion, and they spent four weeks there to finally address these ongoing health concerns,’ he said.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted a representative of Grant for comment, in relation to this story.
