Hamish Blake creates a Pikachu-themed cake for his son Sonny’s seventh birthday

For years, he has taken it upon himself to bake his son’s extravagant birthday cakes.

And once again, Hamish Blake pulled out all the stops in a bid to make a Pikachu-themed creation for son Sonny’s seventh birthday, which took him more than seven hours to complete.

Hamish, 39, shared a series of videos and pictures on his Instagram stories on Friday, documenting the process while enjoying a glass of whiskey to give him a boost of energy for the long night ahead.

‘There’s also one more part of the brief. The ball has to open up which makes things a lot more difficult that it is a moving cake,’ he said.

Hamish enlisted in his Lego Masters co-star The Brickman, also known as Ryan McNaught, to help build the shell of the Pokeball out of Lego, before topping it all in wafer biscuits and sweet icing.

‘I am risking it with the biscuit because there is no plan b,’ the comedian cheekily added.

At this stage, Hamish showcased a Pikachu-cake, nested in a Pokeball case, which opened manually and had some smoke details added to it –  as requested by the birthday boy.

Before heading off to bed, Hamish admitted he went to such efforts for his son, because ‘It’s about love, I love you Sonny boy.’

He’s been wowing fans with his epic cake creations for his son Sonny’s birthday each year.

In 2020, the Hamish revealed his son wanted the cake to be inspired by the Cave Of Wonders from Aladdin, complete with a glowing mouth cave and eyes.

‘This year it’s a classic, the Cave Of Wonders from Aladdin, you know, the cave he goes into to get the lamp (you know). The mouth glows. The eyes glow,’ he explained at the time.

‘Sonny has asked this faithfully be recreated. I have a little idea brewing involving a torch, so I’m getting pumped,’ Hamish gushed.
