Harrison Ford lands his private plane in Boston to pick up his son ahead of Thanksgiving

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have urged Americans not to travel for the Thanksgiving holiday to reduce the risk of spreading the novel coronavirus.

But Harrison Ford appeared to ignore that advice as he landed his private airplane in Boston on Saturday to pick up his son Liam from college for the Thanksgiving break.

The 78-year-old actor was spotted on a tarmac in Massachusetts as he packed up to fly back home.

The Indiana Jones star looked as rugged as ever in a puffy black down jacket and dark jeans.

He also had on a gray baseball cap and wore a set of dark brown boots.

Ford was seen loading belongings and supplies on the small aircraft.

He shares Liam, 19, with his wife Calista Flockhart, who adopted him in 2001, prior to meeting her future husband.

Ford and Flockhart began their relationship shortly after meeting at the 2002 Golden Globe awards, and they married in 2010 in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

He also shares two sons, Ben, 53, and Willard, 51, from his first marriage to Mary Marquardt, and a son, Malcolm, 33, and a daughter, Georgia, 30, from his second marriage to screenwriter Melissa Mathison.

The actor first began flying lessons in the 1960s, before discontinuing them due to the price.

He took an interest in aviation again in the 1990s, when he completed his pilot training.

In recent years, he has suffered a series of aviation mishaps, including crossing a runway that another plane was landing on and flying close to another plane on a taxiway.

But Ford has also put his skills to use helping with search and rescue missions while spending time in Wyoming.

Later on Saturday, he was spotted again in Massachusetts, closer to Amherst, as he stopped by a Starbucks for some refreshments.

He stepped out with a hot drink and an iced beverage, along with a snack for the road.

The Star Wars star had on a pale blue button-up shirt under a navy blue cardigan.

He blocked the sun out with a slim pair of sunglasses, and he wore a black mask to slow the spread of the virus, while revealing his tousled salt-and-pepper hair.

Earlier this month, Ford paid tribute to his former costar and on-screen father Sean Connery, who died on October 31 at his home in the Bahamas.

The two action film legends joined forces with Steven Spielberg and George Lucas for 1989’s sequel Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade.

Connery appeared as Indy’s bespectacled father Henry Jones, who had gone missing in Venice while searching for the Holy Grail, with Nazis close behind.

‘He was my father …not in life .. but in ‘Indy 3′,’ Ford said in a statement to Variety.

‘You don’t know pleasure until someone pays you to take Sean Connery for a ride in the side car of a Russian motorcycle bouncing along a bumpy, twisty mountain trail and getting to watch him squirm. God, we had fun — if he’s in heaven, I hope they have golf courses. Rest in peace, dear friend,’ he added.
