Henry Cavill’s black Superman suit shown in never-before-seen clip from Justice League’s Snyder Cut

With Comic Con unrolling its ‘At Home’ edition this weekend, a panel called Justice Con hosted an exclusive hourlong YouTube chat on Saturday.

And the star of the panel was the first director of the 2017 DC superhero extravaganza Justice League, Zack Snyder, speaking about Justice League: The Snyder Cut.

The highly anticipated re-edit of the film by its original director is due to be released on HBO Max next year.

And in what was undoubtedly the highlight of the panel chat, Snyder showed a brief clip from his upcoming cut of the film, featuring Henry Cavill again as Superman, this time in an all-black costume.

He’s back, in black: In a panel called Justice Con this weekend, a brief clip from Zack Snyder’s upcoming cut of Justice League was shown, featuring Henry Cavill as Superman in all black

Back when the film was being made in early 2017, Snyder had to step away from shooting after his daughter Autumn tragically killed herself.

Buffy The Vampire Slayer auteur Joss Whedon stepped in to finish the film, altering Snyder‘s original vision for the film in the process.

Subsequently, the film was poorly received by audiences and critics alike, in no small part due to a disjointed feeling in the end product.

Change is good: Cavill dons the black Superman suit that is in keeping with the comic books' iteration of the character once he comes back from the dead, a move that Snyder says in the panel that he always wanted to make

But thanks to DC’s fervent fanbase, interest in a potential ‘Snyder Cut’ of the movie never died down, which has led to the impending release of Zack Snyder’s Justice League next year.

In the clip shared by Snyder with YouTube hosts The Nerd Queens and Wonder Meg, Cavill‘s newly resurrected Superman is seen meeting Alfred, Bruce Wayne’s butler portrayed by Jeremy Irons.

The studio (Warner Bros.), however, did not agree, as they were concerned about striking too serious a tone, according to Zack.

In the snippet, Superman flies down to the ground and silently lands, approaching Alfred.

‘I’m assuming you’re Alfred,’ Superman says before the clip ends.

In the version finished by Whedon in 2017, Superman’s reappearance – in his regular blue and red suit, and completely clean-shaven, no less – was one of the most poorly received elements of the film.

This among other issues are expected to be addressed in Snyder’s version.

The director also reiterated something in the Justice Con chat that he previously mentioned earlier this month – how he will make sure not to use any footage not shot by him for the new cut of the movie.

‘There will be no chance on earth that I will use a shot prior or after I left the movie,’ he said. ‘I would destroy the movie, I would set it on fire before I would use a single frame that I did not photograph. That is a f**king hard fact.’
