‘I am old and it can be very dark’: Home Alone 2’s Pigeon Lady Brenda Fricker, 75, shares heartache as she reveals she has to spend Christmas on her own
Home Alone 2’s Pigeon Lady Brenda Fricker has revealed she will have to spend Christmas all by herself.
The Dublin based actress, 75, shared her heartache on Ray D’Arcy’s Radio 1 show and said she would ‘be lying if I said it would be a nice and happy Christmas’.
Brenda, who won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in My Left Foot, said she will get through the day by turning off her phone, putting the blinds down and cuddling her dog.

She told the host: ‘I’m 75 now, and I would be lying if I said it would be a nice and happy Christmas because I’m one of those people, I am old and I live alone, and it can be very dark.
‘I turn the phone off and put the blinds down. I do pre-record some good programmes and I have my dog and I get myself through it that way.
Brenda added she finds New Year’s Eve even harder as she said: ‘The bells are ringing and there is no one to turn around to and hug and smile, and I can’t get away from the bells, there are churches everywhere.’

It comes after Piers Morgan was forced to deny he is not the pigeon lady in the 1992 film.
The hilarious moment came on Good Morning Britain earlier this month when Piers, 55, said he had no part in the movie which also stars his former pal Donald Trump.
Susanna Reid, 49, said to much laughter: ‘Can we just have a look at Home Alone 2 because, frankly, it is the best picture.
‘Because lots of people watch Home Alone 2 and wonder if this is you.’

Claiming to have proof that Piers was telling porkies, she showed a pictured of him taken in 2018 in which he was covered in pigeons.
In Home Alone, the Pigeon Lady comes to Macaulay Culkin’s character Kevin’s rescue after he is cornered in Central Park.
Susanna also said Brenda is quite happy with the comparison and is said to find the whole thing hilarious.
Earlier this year, Dublin-born Brenda admitted she threw her Best Supporting Actress Oscar for the film My Left Foot to the bottom of a swimming pool in Connemara in 1989.
