Hughesy’s grovelling apology to Tomic’s girlfriend: Dave Hughes says sorry for announcing Vanessa Sierra’s ‘split’ from the tennis star against her wishes – then asks ‘can we be friends?’
Dave Hughes has drawn a line under his feud with Vanessa Sierra, after he angered the model by ‘confirming’ her split with tennis star Bernard Tomic earlier this week.
The comedian, 50, had announced the pair’s break-up on 2Day FM on Monday after chatting to Vanessa via Instagram DMs – only for her to accuse him hours later of spreading ‘fake news’ and using quotes without her permission.
While he didn’t fully retract his claims, Hughes acknowledged he’d gone too far by saying the couple were no longer together – noting how the Love Island star had told him their conversation was ‘off the record’.
Whether or not Tomic and Vanessa are still together remains unclear.

‘I never said that they’d broken up,’ Hughes said on The Morning Crew on Tuesday.
‘I said that she had sent me some DMs. I didn’t say what she said in the DMs.’
He continued: ‘I definitely shouldn’t have said ‘it’s fair to say they have broken up. I shouldn’t have said that… and I apologise to you now, Vanessa.
‘I hope that we can build a bridge… so that we can be friends again.’
