James Van Der Beek ‘is ready for a new story’ as he continues to enjoy his life in Texas with wife Kimberly and their five children

He recently navigated a major move halfway across the country.

But James Van Der Beek is continuing to fully appreciate his new home in Texas, with a heartfelt caption alongside a beautiful family portrait posted for Thanksgiving Day.

The Dawson’s Creek star, 43, shared a lovely outdoor picture in the woods with his wife Kimberly, 38, and their children Olivia, 10, Joshua, eight, Annabel, six, Emilia, four, and Gwendolyn, two, who sat atop her father’s shoulders.

‘Who else is ready for a new story?’ the television actor asked at the beginning of his reflective and inspirational caption.

‘We all acquire personal narratives along the way which somehow come to define us, but don’t always leave room for our best life,’ he continued.

‘I went into this holiday ready to jettison old stories, but realizing today that it doesn’t start by letting go… it starts with appreciation: Focusing on what you love, and choosing to love with your whole heart, fully present, in the midst of whatever story might be playing,’ James added.

‘Then the old narratives just kinda fall away on their own. Cheers to what we love!’ he concluded, before adding the hashtag ‘#HappyThanksgiving everyone!’

In late September, the Van Der Beek clan moved from Los Angeles, California to Texas.

To get there, James and his brood embarked on an epic and well-documented 10-day road trip east, making stops in Arizona and New Mexico along the way.

And last month, James cited various reasons that precipitated the move, which included the pandemic shutdown, the death of his mother, and his early exit from Dancing With The Stars last season.

Ever since, he has shown gratitude for having made the decision to move, sharing various appreciative posts to his Instagram.

Just last week, he posted a glorious array of images and video of his family wandering through a beautiful sunlight nature setting.

In that caption, James said that ‘this location has changed everything for me. And I’m no longer so much between my ears, as I am in my heart.

‘If anybody out there has been contemplating a move during this time… You’ll find as many reasons to stay as you have minutes in the day – and probably all legit’ he continued.

‘But if your soul is longing to take the leap… And you can somehow figure out a way to swing it… It just might thank you in ways you never could have calculated.’
