Jeffrey Dean Morgan offers a sneak peek at his 11-year-old son Augustus’ role in the final season of The Walking Dead

Just days after Jeffrey Dean Morgan starred alongside his wife Hilarie Burton in the Season 10 finale of The Walking Dead, the actor will have another familiar face on the show.

The 54-year-old actor took to Instagram on Thursday afternoon, sharing a snap of his 11-year-old song Augustus in zombie makeup.

While he didn’t offer specifics of when his son would appear, though it will certainly happen sometime in the show’s 11th and final season.

The photo Morgan shared showed a glimpse of the right side of Augustus’ face, with heavy prosthetic makeup showing his zombie decaying flesh.

He also had a small hole in his neck via prosthetics with black makeup around his forehead and eyes.

The youngster did have a bit of a smile in the snap, as his proud father explained what was happening in the caption.

‘My kid. Just a peek… as a dad, I have to say, I’d be hard pressed to remember a time I’ve been more proud of this dude,’ Morgan said. 

He added, ‘Can’t wait for y’all to see him in action,’ along with the hashtags #gusydean and #zombielife.

Production started on the super-sized final season of The Walking Dead back in February, with the season kicking off on August 22.

While most seasons span 16 episode, split into eight-episode halves, this 11th and final season will span 24 episodes.

The first segment of the final season will feature, ‘eight action-packed episodes that will feature the massive scope and scale fans have come to expect from TWD Universe,’ said Scott M. Gimple, chief content officer of TWD Universe.

It’s unclear when the rest of the final season will arrive, but it’s expected to close out sometime in 2022.

Morgan was joined by his real-life wife Hilarie Burton, who portrayed his character Negan’s wife Lucille, who died in the early days of the zombie outbreak and who he named his barbed wire bat after.

Morgan and Burton have been together since 2009, tying the knot in a private ceremony in October 2019.

They share two children together, 11-year-old Augustus and three-year-old daughter George Virginia Morgan.
