Jesinta Franklin on gaining 18kg during pregnancy and self-love

Jesinta Franklin (née Campbell) welcomed her first child, daughter Tullulah, with husband Lance ‘Buddy’ Franklin just over five months ago.

And during a candid Q&A session with Instagram fans on Saturday, the model said she ‘couldn’t care’ how much she weighed after giving birth.

The 29-year-old, who gained 18 kilograms during her pregnancy, told her followers that she’s ‘now in awe’ of her body, and is feeling healthy and strong.

When asked how her relationship with her body has changed since giving birth, the former Miss Universe Australia said she went through ‘a huge transformation’ four years ago when she was struggling to conceive.

‘I was working too much, training too hard and not eating enough as I was always on the go, and naturally (not purposely) skipping meals due to always being go-go-go,’ she said.

Jesinta went on to reveal that she’s now ‘in tune’ with her body and ‘couldn’t care’ how much she weighed.

‘If I have cellulite or my old jeans do or don’t fit me, I’ve been through enough with my body to know that all that matters is that I am healthy and strong, both mentally and physically,’ she said.

‘Since giving birth, I just look at my body in awe now. I cannot believe I grew and birthed a little human, it is truly amazing and I am so grateful,’ Jesinta added.

And when asked how she learned to love her new body, Jesinta encouraged them to not worry, having gained 18-19kg ‘all up’ during her pregnancy.

‘There is so much pressure on women after having a baby to lose weight, and get back to where they were prior to pregnancy,’ she began.

‘I have never understood this and never let this worry me, as I trust my body to do what it needs to do in its own time.’

She concluded by saying it’s more important to spend time bonding with your child and sharing experiences, than to focus on losing weight or the dress size you wear.

The couple postponed their wedding, which was originally scheduled to take place in January 2016.

They eventually made it official in early November that same year, at the lavish Wildenstein Gardens in the NSW Blue Mountains.

Jesinta and Buddy announced they were expecting a child in August last year.
