Jessica Mauboy breaks her silence on The Young Divas reunion rumours

EXCLUSIVE: Jessica Mauboy breaks her silence on rumours she is reuniting with girl group The Young Divas

Rumours have been swirling for months that girl band The Young Divas will get back together almost a decade after splitting up.

And Jessica Mauboy has revealed that while she’d be ‘up for’ reuniting with Paulini Curuenavuli, Emily Williams and Kate DeAraugo, there are no plans to do so yet.

‘That would be so exciting, I would absolutely love to do it, but I don’t see it happening anytime soon,’ the 31-year-old singer told Daily Mail Australia at Afterpay Australian Fashion Week on Tuesday.

‘I’m working on some new music which will be out with my new label by the end of the year,’ she added.

While she didn’t rule out a Young Divas reunion someday, Jessica said she wants to spend the next few years recording solo music.

The ARIA Award winner added that since parting ways with Sony Music in December, she feels like she finally has creative freedom.

She said fans can expect new music from her around August this year.

It comes after fellow Young Divas alum Emily Williams hinted in April that the Australian Idol supergroup could be getting back together.

‘I love all the girls. We have been through a lot together and it would be great to take a walk down memory lane and belt out some tunes,’ she told Woman’s Day.

After forming in 2006, the group’s first single, This Time I Know It’s for Real, went straight to No. 2 in the Australian charts.

Ricki-Lee left the group in 2007, opening the door for Jessica Mauboy to join.

The band parted ways in 2008, and its members went on to pursue solo careers.
