‘The cold, dry air and certain fabrics can be tough on my skin, so I like to moisturize regularly,’ said the Public Affair singer.

‘But sometimes, eczema flares still happen, so it’s important to understand your treatment options.’

Breaking the news: In August she first talked about her struggle. In a sponsored post on her Instagram account for Eucrisa ointment, the star said: 'For the first time, I'm sharing that I've had eczema since I was a kid'

WHAT IS ECZEMA?

Eczema – known clinically as ‘atopic dermatitis’ – is a skin condition that causes the skin to become red and itchy

It often manifests in the form of inflamed, cracked, and sometimes even blistered red patches that appear on the body

It can be triggered by environmental factors (pollens, soaps fragrances) ; certain foods (i.e. dairy, nuts) and is often linked to the immune system (asthma, hay fever)

Nearly 31.6 million people in the US struggle with eczema – over 10% of the population

Symptoms can vary depending on the age of the person affected and some people outgrow it

There is currently no cure for Eczema.

In her caption, Simpson goes into details about her experience with Eczema as she endorses her new partnership with Eucrisa – a prescription ointment used to treat the skin condition.

‘Full Rx Info @eucrisa_pi. Full Safety Info below #PfizerAd.’

She added: ‘While your experience may be different, EUCRISA really works for me. That’s why I’m excited to partner with Pfizer, the makers of EUCRISA for mild-to-moderate eczema—to help inspire others with eczema to have the #EczemaConversation with their doctors like I did.

She finishes the post opening up the conversation to her fans, writing:

‘You can get involved by sharing #EczemaConversation in your own way on your social media. If you or your little one have eczema, ask your doctor if EUCRISA could be right for you.’

Simpson goes on to list the important safety information for Eucrisa and its’ parent company Pfizer on the bottom of her post.

Though, Eczema is a common skin condition that affects all ages and more than 10% of the US population – causing skin to become red and itchy – this is the first time Simpson has spoken out about having any sort of skin problems at all, detailing that she has struggled with the skin condition since she was a child.
