Jesy Nelson reveals reunion with Little Mix felt ‘amazing’ after spending lockdown apart and says filming Holiday music video ‘felt so weird’ due to safety precautions

Jesy Nelson spoke about the moment she reunited with her Little Mix bandmates on This Morning on Friday.

The singer, 29, described how lockdown meant the band – Jade Thirlwall, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Perrie Edwards- were forced to spend the longest time apart in their 10-year history.

Jesy also discussed how filming the music video for their new single Holiday felt the ‘weirdest experience ever’ due to safety restrictions.

Chatting to hosts Rochelle Humes and Dermot O’Leary, Jesy said: ‘It’s horrible, we’re like family now, so to not be with them for this long has been horrible but I have seen them and it was amazing, because they’re like my sisters.

‘In the same aspect, it was quite nice to have our own space and time, because we never get time to just chill and just do nothing, so that was quite nice.’

On filming the video for the new single without her bandmates, Jesy admitted: ‘It was so weird. The minute I got to the studio everyone had to have their temperature checked, there were people in these bodysuits, these visors.

‘Our makeup artists and our hair [stylists] had to have these suits on. It was the weirdest experience ever, but it was fun, but it’s amazing how they’ve done it. You would never know that we’ve been superimposed in the video, so it’s very cool.’

During the interview, Jesy was reminded it has been 10 years since Little Mix won X Factor, with Dermot joking he could be a waiter if they celebrated with a dinner.

Commenting on the milestone Jesy said: ‘I remember it all very vividly, but for me it doesn’t feel like 10 years, it feels like it has been half of that. It’s just flown by and I literally just feel like I’ve had the best time ever. Mainly because I’ve been with my best friends.’

Jesy went on to talk about their new BBC TV show, The Search.

The show, which was set to air in early spring but has been postponed due to the coronavirus crisis, aims to put together the next big band in the UK, with the top prize being to join the girlband on their now-cancelled tour this summer.

She said: ‘We’re basically looking for the next big band to join us on tour next year.’

‘We kept having moments on set where we were like, “As if this is happening? As if this is our show!” I’m just so excited for everyone to see it because it’s so much fun and I think it’s what’s needed in a time like now.’

On who the toughest judge is, Jesy revealed: ‘I think we all play that role, but I would probably say me and Pez… I think I’m just quite honest on it.’

Catch This Morning weekdays from 10am on ITV.
